brightbillDr. Frederick Brightbill was the Medical Director of New Vision Laser Center until his retirement in December 2011. He was a world-renowned cornea specialist with more than 30 years of experience in the field of cornea and external eye disease.

He was a Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, and a past physician and surgeon for many years at the Davis-Duehr Eye Clinic in Madison. Dr. Brightbill was among the first surgeons to perform laser refractive surgery in Wisconsin, and was a certified trainer for the VISX Star excimer laser, having trained more than 160 ophthalmologists in its use.

Dr. Brightbill received his medical degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago, and spent one year of training in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, and a fellowship in Cornea and External Disease at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

In addition to serving for 25 years as the Medical Director for the Wisconsin Eye Bank, Dr. Brightbill has authored dozens of publications on corneal disease and surgery.

The fourth edition of his book, Corneal Surgery: Theory, Techniques and Tissue, is an internationally recognized resource for practicing ophthalmologists.
